Indie Rotation: Marcus Cooper, Dawn Richard & Glenn Lewis Battle for Most Played Indie Single of the Week

The top three Most Played Songs by Independent artists this week are led by Marcus Cooper, Dawn Richard and Glenn Lewis. The impact of Marcus Cooper’s trips to Jamaica has influenced the new creative direction of his music. He is still targeting the ladies, but now on "Feels Right," he is backed by the Jamaican riddims rather than a production style of his past records like “I Love Girls.” It has almost been five years since he dropped his debut album, ‘The Introduction of Marcus Cooper,' but he will not delay the release of a new project any longer; in February he will release ‘Break Up to Make Up.’ The Floridian embracement of the tropical sound has connected with fans; he earned this week’s Most Played Independent Single. Dawn Richard is not allowing the comeback of Danity Kane to halt her solo career; she pulled out “Levitate” from her music vault. Using a choppy melody, Dawn’s description of floating sensation can be due to heart tingling or a smoke in the room. Take a listen to make your own interpretation. If Glenn Lewis’ “Closer” can possibly help save Peter Gunz and Amina's relationship, it is no surprise it drew interest from people. The single is lifted from Glenn's latest album, Moment of Truth, which was released in the latter half of 2013. The remaining artists on the Most Played Independent Single of the Week include Jack Freeman, Eric Roberson, Justina, JRDN, Algebra Blessett, Carmen Rodgers and Ray Lavender.
