Beyonce Secures Third Week Atop Billboard 200, Makes Top 10 Best-Selling Album of 2013

Beyoncé’s self-titled fifth studio album secures its third week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart after selling another 310,000 copies. According to Billboard, the sales tally now puts the "Heaven" and "Blue" singers total sales over 1.3 million in the U.S. after 17 days. Notching the top spot for a third consecutive week marks Beyoncé’s longest-reigning chart-topping album. While all five of her studio albums have reached No. 1, her longest rule atop the list is two weeks (for both "Beyoncé" and "4"). In addition, the album is the first effort since 2009 to sell more than 300,000 copies in each of its first three weeks and also the first album by a woman to notch three weeks at No. 1 since Taylor Swift's "Red" claimed seven weeks at the top (non-consecutively) in late 2012 and early 2013. In related news, 'Beyoncé' also lands the international superstar in the top 10 most sold album of 2013. The album logged the eighth-best-selling release of 2013, even though it was available for just the last three weeks of the year. It's the first album to wind up in the year-end top 10 based on just three weeks of sales availability in the Nielsen SoundScan era.
