Pharrell's 'Happy' Retains No. 1 For Second Week With 413k Sold

Pharrell Williams' hit single, "Happy," is the number one charting single in the U.S. for a second week. According to Billboard, the single has not only retained the top position on the coveted Billboard 200. It has sold over 400,000 copies within the last week. "Happy" maintains its Hot 100 command with gains in all three of the charts metrics (sales, airplay and streaming), while sales continues to make up the majority (53%) of its chart points. It leads the Digital Songs chart for a third week with a 3% increase to 413,000 downloads sold," reports Billboard. "Having sold 402,000 last week, "Happy" is the first song to earn two straight weeks of more than 400,000 in sales since another Williams-assisted track, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," featuring Williams and T.I., reached the number in the three consecutive weeks last June." Pharrell's "Happy" is likely to continue its run at no.1, or at least in the top 5, with an expected boost in sales due to his performance at the Oscars (Academy Awards) Sunday. Pharrell's new album, "G I R L," is also projected to debut well on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week with a projected 85-95,000 copies sold.
