Pharrell's 'Happy' Dominates R&B Charts, Soars on Billboard Hot 100


Pharrell can't be anything, but happy right about now. His apt single, "Happy," is dominating the R&B charts and may just reach the summit on the coveted Hot 100. With digital sales of the song reaching 252,000 (up 15 percent) and 85 million impressions last week, "Happy" has swiftly become Pharrell's third overall no.1 single on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The single also tops the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts. Fresh off the Grammy Awards, NBA All Star Game and other performances, Pharrell is also picking up on the Radio Songs, Streaming Songs, Digital Songs and Hot 100 charts. "Pharrell's "Happy" is galloping fast on its tail, roaring 8-2 with dual Digital and Airplay Gainer honors. The latter track climbs 3-2 on Digital Songs (252,000, up 15%) and 15-10 on Radio Songs (85 million, up 45%). "Happy" marks Pharrell's eighth Radio Songs top 10 and second as a lead act; "Frontin'," featuring Jay Z, reached No. 5 in 2003," reports Billboard. "Happy" concurrently climbs 15-11 on Streaming Songs (3.7 million, up 14%) and rises 3-1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs to become his third No. 1, and first as a lead artist, on the ranking." "Happy" is currently at no.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is no.3 on the UK Singles chart. Next up for Pharrell is a performance at the Academy Awards on March 2. His album is due to be released this Summer.
