
R&B veterans Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson and Janelle Monae will join several other performers at the 2014 BET Honors celebration. The show will be filmed on Saturday, February 8th at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. and will also boast performances from Tamar Braxton, Smokey Robinson and Wayne Brady.
Aretha Franklin, Berry Gordy and Ice Cube To Receive BET Honors
This year honorees include Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, rapper/actor/entrepreneur Ice Cube, Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, American Express CEO Ken Chenault, and visual artist Carrie Mae Weems.
Ludacris, Mack Wilds, Rev. Al Sharpton and "Scandal" actor Joe Morton will serve as presenters while Brady will also take the stage as a host.
The BET Honors was established to celebrate the achievements of distinguished African Americans in music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education.
The event will premiere Feb. 24 in the U.S. and Feb. 28 on BET’s international network.
Proceeds from BET Honors’ limited ticket sales will benefit the Women Veterans Interactive (WVI), an organization that provides housing options and support for veterans and their families.
