Christina Aguilera Talks 'Sad' State of Music For Female Artists

Christina Aguilera says it is hard for young female recording artists to stay true to themselves and their artistry with so much noise and outside opinion. In a clip from NBC's "The Voice," where she was discussing finalist Jacquie Lee, Aguilera revealed a lot of what she sees and perhaps has gone through. "It's hard to be a young girl in this business and be subjected to so much outside opinion, sometimes noise and things that really don't matter outside of just loving music and wanting to be there for the right reasons," said Aguilera. Adding that she's been around a long time, she said seeing other girls rattled and turned is sad. "I've been in this for a long time. So many people I see, they come in, they get rattled and things start becoming done for different reasons and reasons that really have nothing to do with being at the core, an artist, and making music for the love of it," said Aguilera. "And that makes me sad. So this girl is a gem and I'll be darned if I'm going to let that happen with her."
